Our March Meeting includes a talk called "The Big Lies in System Administration: Truths That Aren't" to be presented by Lee Damon.
For those of you who don't know him, Lee Damon is a veteran sysadmin with over 20 years experience working in IBM, Gulfstream Aerospace,
QUALCOMM and currently works in the University of Washington Electrical Engineering department. He is a charter member of LOPSA and SAGE, past chair of the SAGE Ethics and Policies working groups, and he was the chair of LISA '04.
We usually meet on the second Tuesday of every month, in Dublin. A talk is given, followed by a Q&A session. We then retire to a local hostelry for a quiet drink or two.
Meetings are currently open to the general public. Please feel free to come along;
however, please note that some of our meeting venues require pre-registration
with site security.
We also hold regional meetings, usually in association with the ICT Division of the Institute of Engineers in Ireland.

Joining the System Administrators Guild of Ireland (sysadmin.ie) has many benefits (in addition to the knowledge that you are supporting a worthwhile organisation) including:
This month, we have Jeroen Masser talking to us about "SixXS Internals - Inside the heart of a virtual ISP" on Tuesday, December 12th at 19:00.
The talk is being co-hosted by the TCD Netsoc and will be held in the Swift Theatre, on the ground floor of the TCD Arts Building (room 2041A). A map to the Arts Building is available.
After the talk, we are going to retire to the bar in the Alexander Hotel for drinks and a bite to eat.
The System Administrators Guild of Ireland (sysadmin.ie) has established an affiliation with League of Professional System Administrators (LOPSA) (as a LOPSA Local Affiliate) and looks forward to working with them in the future.
The System Administrators Guild of Ireland article was created in the Wikipedia today which contains information about the guild, its history, activities and affiliations.
